We are proud to announce that our College Path Mentorship (CPM) program officially started in four partner locations in October 2024. The program began at Seminary Baptist Church on October 12, followed by Fallahee, Alaaka Association, and Masjid Abu Bakr on October 19. In each location, we organized a Parent Orientation Meeting to engage families, explain the goals of the program, and build the foundation for a collaborative, supportive environment for student success.

What is College Path Mentorship Program

College Path Mentorship is a comprehensive initiative designed to support underserved high school students—especially those from Newark and Paterson—as they navigate college admissions. The program provides a full academic year of guidance that includes SAT Math and English preparation, college essay writing boot camps, progress tracking for self-study, and academic enrichment. Students also benefit from college trips, workshops on study and time management skills, and volunteer opportunities that strengthen both resumes and communities. Our mentorship model includes one-on-one and small group sessions to help students build confidence, set goals, and develop a clear path toward higher education.

The program continues to build on the success of last year’s cohort. Students and families reported significant academic growth and increased college readiness. One student, who participated in the 30-hour Summer Math Camp after attending the CPM, improved their SAT score by 180 points and gained new confidence in tackling advanced math problems. A graduating senior from Paterson shared, “I never thought I’d be applying to colleges with confidence. CPM helped me find my voice in my essay and my strength in math.” Parents, too, expressed appreciation for the program’s inclusive approach. “As a parent, I finally felt part of the college process. The program kept us informed and involved every step of the way,” said one Newark parent.

We look forward to another impactful year, working alongside our students, partners, and families to make college not only a dream but a reality.
