UPLIFT Academy is pleased to announce the resounding success of its first-ever Chess Tournament, held on Sunday, April 21st, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Academy’s Center.
An Atmosphere of Intense Concentration permeated the halls as students engaged in riveting gameplay and strategic maneuvers throughout the afternoon. As the final matches concluded, a sense of quiet anticipation settled, culminating in the well-deserved recognition of our esteemed victors.
Announcing the Champions
The UPLIFT Academy community proudly extends its congratulations to the following champions:
- First Place: Antonio Bravo, whose unparalleled skill and strategic foresight allowed him to navigate the intricate complexities of the chessboard with precision and finesse, ultimately claiming the coveted title.
- Second Place: Javier Zitle, a beacon of tactical brilliance, emerged as the formidable runner-up. Javier’s astute maneuvers and strategic dexterity left a lasting impression on the tournament.
- Third Place: Giovvani Tapia rounds out the podium of champions. His strategic ingenuity and unwavering tenacity propelled him to a well-earned third-place finish in this fiercely contested competition.
A Commitment to Intellectual Growth
UPLIFT Academy’s CEO, Dr. Koch, personally presented each champion with a certificate of achievement in recognition of their outstanding performance. Additionally, Amazon gift cards were awarded as follows:
- 1st Place: $100
- 2nd Place: $75
- 3rd Place: $50
Before presenting the awards, UPLIFT Academy’s CEO, Dr. Levent Koch, delivered a thought-provoking speech. He highlighted the Academy’s commitment to educational equity through its impactful programs for underserved communities, including the College Path Mentorship program, Math & Coding initiatives, and Summer Math Camps.
