College Path Mentorship Program (CPM) at the Seminary Baptist Church (SBC) ended with a closing ceremony on May 20, 2023, with the attendance of mentees and parents.
In total 10, tenth and eleventh-grade students attended our program at SBC. Students were given certificates for completing the program successfully.
Since we launched the CPM program in 2020, we have served and supported 63 high school students with immense success.
Mentees in the CPM program maintain, on average, over 70% attendance during the program year, with an increase of average SAT practice test scores by 150 points.
Our CPM program takes place over 30 weeks from October to June. Mentors meet with their mentees for 4 hours over 30 weeks, totaling 120 mentor-mentee hours over the year. By the end of the program year, each mentee undergoes 40 hours of SAT Math preparation courses, 30 hours of SAT English preparation courses, and 25 hours of College Readiness Seminar courses.
NYA partners with non-profit and faith-based organizations to implement the CPM program such as Seminary Baptist Church Paterson. Our partners advertise the program to members of their communities and host it on-site to create an easier commute for our mentees.
