Summer Math Camp Strengthened Foundations, Empowering Student Success
Throughout July 2024, UPLIFT Academy hosted its traditional Summer Math Camp at two different locations, welcoming both high school and middle school groups. Each of the four groups—two high school and two middle school—embarked on a two-week journey of math exploration and personal growth, offering a vibrant and enriching experience for teens. The camp was set to combine fun, learning, and personal development in a truly unique setting. 35 students in total attended the camps in 4 groups.
Exploring New Horizons
The first day of camp was dedicated to assessing the skill levels of our students. High school participants took the math section of a practice SAT test to gauge their understanding and identify their current proficiency levels. Meanwhile, middle school students completed a diagnostic test tailored to their respective grades. Based on the results, our teachers curated specific curricula that addressed each student’s needs, ensuring a customized and effective learning experience. Homework was assigned accordingly, and students were motivated to enhance their skills through a series of quizzes and interactive activities.
Diving Into Learning
As the camp progressed into the second week, the focus shifted towards developing new skills and deepening the understanding of mathematical concepts. Teachers introduced advanced topics and problem-solving techniques, helping students build confidence and competence in their abilities.
Looking Ahead
As the camp drew to a close, it was evident that the summer math camp had been a memorable and impactful experience for all participants. Campers left with new friends, enhanced skills, and a greater appreciation for mathematics. The success of this year’s camp has laid a strong foundation for future learning, and we look forward to continuing this journey of growth and exploration in the years to come.
