New York Academy Educational Services Receives $10,000 Major Grant from The Provident Bank Foundation
RIDGEWOOD, NJ (Nov. 28, 2022) – New York Academy Educational Services (New York Academy) today announced it has been awarded a Major Grant in the amount of $10,000 from The Provident Bank Foundation to support their College Path Mentorship program.
New York Academy was selected to receive the grant based on its positive impact on youth in Northern New Jersey through its College Path Mentorship program. The College Path Mentorship aims to increase college attainment rates of high school students from low-education-level and high-poverty areas of Essex and Passaic Counties. By providing free, quality college preparation, College Path Mentorship expands access to higher education to students who, due to socioeconomic circumstances, would otherwise be statistically the least likely of their peers to get a college education. The program offers quality, well-rounded educational experiences by equipping mentees with the academic and social skills needed for college success. Support is provided to high school students by their college mentors, who assist them weekly with essay writing, resume building, SAT training, and more. Mentees in the program also receive support in discovering their career interests, researching colleges, and defining themselves as college-bound individuals.
“We are very grateful for the Major Grant from The Provident Bank Foundation,” said Levent Koch, Executive Director, New York Academy. “By funding College Path Mentorship, they are investing in the futures of high schoolers in our communities, making sure that students from all backgrounds have a fair shot at a college education.”
“We are pleased to help further valuable initiatives put forth by local organizations who are working every day to strengthen the lives of residents in our communities,” said Samantha Plotino, Executive Director, The Provident Bank Foundation. “We will continue to provide support to these important organizations that have identified an immediate need in the community and for the individuals they serve.”
